Location Overview
A 3-hour drive will take you through some of Iraklion’s outskirts before sending you into arguably one of the most dramatic journeys you'll ever experience. Landscape shaped over thousands of years rich with history dating back to Minoan times and local hospitality that seems undeterred by what’s going on elsewhere in the world, this is Greek culture as authentic as you'll get anywhere in the Med.
As you drop out of the mountains you are once again greeted by the infamous Azure colours of the Mediterranean and it is here that you literally start smelling your holiday.
Around Palekastro, the ‘Meltemi’ increases its power through the local thermal and a funnelling effect that gives the ground wind an additional 2 Beaufort. This makes the main beach at Palekastro, Kouremenos Beach, one of the most wind-certain spot in the whole of Europe. This is also why the largest windmill generators park in Greece is in the surrounding area - always a good sign!

Customer Testimonial
"Great organisation on my recent adventure - could not have been more professional - I've been with Oceansource.net for 6 years now and have never been let down, always done their best when flights have gone wrong etc. My holiday in The Phiilippines was amazing - Pagudpud is exceptionally laid back and a very refreshing change to the hustle and bustle of daily life. The conditions are not for the faint hearted but the resort and food are amazing!! Boracay...again superb...better for learners and intermediates - and if your after Ibiza style entertainment - this is also where you'll find it, but with a blend of laid back too. The whole trip is difficult to organise yourself, but with Oceansource's knowledge - its just a call for you and let them sort it all out - till next time Oceansource.net!! Thank You."
